Ko Koens is a PhD-researcher at the International Centre for Responsible Tourism at Leeds Met University. Through analysing small tourism businesses involved in township tourism around Cape Town, South Africa, he aims to gain an understanding of how and why these small tourism businesses function and how they link up with the existing tourism market.

Other research interests of Ko are responsible, sustainable and eco-tourism in Latin America and slow travel.
